Three prayer wheels have been offered to Rinpoche and we are raising donations to build a prayer wheel house at the Lotus Lake Retreat Center.

People turn prayer wheels to accumulate merit, to help all beings in the world and to purify their karma (intentional actions). They are part of a meditation practice.

The current plans for the House are below; initial estimate is around $20,000.

Please consider joining us in the merit making project.

Prayer wheel (Tibetan mani chos ‘khor) in Tibetan Buddhism, is a mechanical device the use of which is equivalent to the recitation of a mantra (sacred syllable or verse).  The prayer wheel consists of a hollow metal cylinder, beautifully embossed, mounted on a rod and containing  many wound scrolls printed with a mantra. Each turning of the wheel by hand is equivalent in efficacy to the prayer’s oral recitation multiplied by the number of times the mantra is printed on the scroll and the number of scrolls in the cylinder. People turn prayer wheels to accumulate merit, to help all beings in the world and to purify their karma (intentional actions). They are part of a meditation practice.

Our prayer wheels are filled with the OM MANI PEME HUM mantra of compassion – the wish that no living beings would ever suffer.
