Cultivating Joy
Sunday June 8, 2014
A Joyful Path Event
Joyful Path Healing Center, Blue Mounds, WI
Rinpoche discusses karmic craving on outer and inner levels and reviews the great wish of happiness. Meditation opens deeper levels, penetrating until we reach enlightenment. We discuss who deserves joy, how do we get rid of mental sorrow in ordinary ways, and what keeps us from the calm state where joy can arise.
The degree to which we open our hearts and connect to others is limited by our habit of categorizing others as friend, enemy or stranger. Through the transformative magic of spiritual love, we can increase our capacity for spiritual connection. The Buddha taught that this spiritual love has four active arms, known as the Four Boundless Attitudes – boundless love, compassion, joy and equanimity. With Rinpoche’s guidance, come learn how to open your heart and feel boundless friendship with others.
This teaching is a commentary on the third great wish: May they never be separated from the bliss that is sorrowless
Joy may not be a quality we immediately associated with spiritual practice. For many of us, our upbringing taught us that joy was improper or unsophisticated. The truth is, joy is part of our nature. As we gradually shed layers of suffering, more and more joy naturally arises. Join Rinpoche to learn more about this deep spiritual joy, and the value of wishing it for our self and all living beings.
