Common Sense and Buddhism
Oct 3 rd , Friday (7:00 – 8:30 pm)
Location TBD
Buddhism is often seen as profound and mysterious—but at its heart, it’s deeply
practical. This teaching explores how the simple clarity of common sense can
open the door to Buddhist understanding. Together we’ll reflect on how everyday
wisdom—knowing what truly helps and what doesn’t—aligns with the Buddha’s
guidance for living a meaningful life.

Changing Karma, Cultivating our Life
October 4 th , Saturday (1:00 – 4:30)
Location TBD
Karma is one of Buddhism’s most well-known teachings, yet it is often
misunderstood. Is karma fixed, or can it be changed? Through the lens of
common sense, this teaching will examine how karma actually works—not as
fate or superstition, but as the natural unfolding of cause and effect in our lives.
Drawing on her book How to Change Your Karma, Rinpoche will show how
reasoning and everyday wisdom reveal karma’s flexibility: our present choices
shape our future. Far from something to fear, karma becomes a source of
empowerment and hope, offering practical tools for cultivating and transforming
our life.

Higher Reasoning
October 5 th , Sunday (10:00 – 11:45 am, CT)
Location TBD
Buddhism encourages us not just to believe, but to inquire deeply. The Buddha
invited his students to question, examine, and see for themselves, and this
teaching will explore the practice of higher reasoning—a way of refining our
thinking so we can look beyond assumptions, cut through confusion, and
recognize what is true. When guided by compassion and clarity, reasoning
becomes more than logic—it becomes a tool for insight, freedom, and wise living.
