Session 1:   July 20–27 Zest – Joyful Effort

Whether you are a beginner or advanced meditator, knowing how to make correct and sustained effort in spiritual practice will help you to move forward on The Path quickly and easily. Enthusiasm is one of the important Bodhisattva practices that sustains and nourishes them in their advanced quest for the full enlightenment of Buddhahood.  They appreciate this so much, it is considered to be one of the Six Perfections!  Learning and practice begins long before enlightenment; it is a foundation for true development.  The Green Light set of empowerments will be bestowed: Green Wisdom Light, Medicine Buddha, Buddha Shakyamuni and White Tara.  Full moon Guru Puja Tsok ceremony during this session with commentary to permit newcomers to participate.

Going on Retreat at Lotus Lake Buddhist Center Retreat at  Doonkar Retreat House

White Conch retreats are held on the sacred consecrated monastery and retreat grounds of Domo Geshe Rinpoche called Lotus Lake Buddhist Center and Monastery. While tenting under the pines of the very quiet Meditation or Jetavana Groves, you might even sense the presence of a Pure Land.

Indoor rooms are in the quietude of the new Doonkar Retreat House.  Enjoy three excellent vegetarian meals per day with homemade bread, our own yogurt, kombucha and many other gourmet specialties. Practice walking meditation on the kora path around a beautiful lotus pond with the large Buddha statue at the head.

On group retreats there are daily dharma teachings in the spacious Temple and informal sharing by Rinpoche or senior students over breakfast or lunch. Whether you are seated in Norbu’s Great Room under the Wish Granting Tree, visiting the organic vegetable and flower gardens or are in your own room, the environment has been specially created to make it easy to quiet your mind, learn without distractions and be under the care of our kind retreat master and teacher.

Fees    

• Regular Registration: $665
• Early Registration: $635. Early Registration Discount is available if registered and paid in full before July 1.
• Tent: $525. Regular Registration with a discount for staying in your own tent.

• Extra Days before or after retreat, or between retreats are $30 a day.
• For ordained or dharma service rates, contact the retreat coordinator at retreats@whiteconch.org.
• We will make an effort to accommodate all who wish to attend by arrange payment plans as needed. Contact executivedirector@white-conch.org before July 1.

Accommodations

Delicious vegetarian meals and accommodations are included in the retreat cost.

Double room indoor accommodations are at Doonkar Retreat House. A Tenting Option is available for the reduced registration rate.
